Austin Deaf Club Poker League (ADCPL) has transformed to new name: Deaf Poker League (DPL) – Austin. New name, new and exciting changes! For the past several years, we have had to wait for one full school year before we can play championship round. We had to play at the minimum number of games to qualify, competing against some seasonal poker veterans. To many, it can be daunting to try and play to stay in the top group. Many of you have commitments with sports, family, job, etc., and that do cause you to fall back beginning of the season or towards the end of the season. With that said, I’ve designed a new game plan and I hope most of you will find this in your favor.
Change one: We will have TWO championship rounds instead of one as previously. First FALL championship round will be on January 16, 2016. After the championship round is done with, we reset and start over for SPRING championship round which will be on May 28, 2016. There will be exactly 15 games for each season to offer a fair competition for everyone.
Change two: I have designed the poker calendar to be more respectful to families, especially around the holidays. There will be no games during Labor Day Weekend, Halloween night, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Good Friday/Easter Weekend, and Deaf’em Poker Camp. I also designed the calendar to avoid all ASOP games and other TSD Alumni Dinner as well as to work around Austin Deaf Club planned events. I list all scheduled dates below.
Change three: There will be rewards for be a top performers at the end of every 5 games. First place $100 goes to top point performer of the 5 games period, and second place $50. So, in the other words, each of you have 6 chances to win $100 and 6 chances to win $50 throughout the year. So, it pays to be top performers.
Change four: Because we are doing two championship rounds now, only top 18 will qualify the championship round. No frills.
Change five: The $10 will go to the championship pot and maintenance. DPL will draw some to pay to replace damaged cards. Additionally, DPL will contribute $50 to WASP, LLC. for the use of their website for each season. If ya’ll want more in the championship, please keep in mind and take care of poker cards.
Change six: DPL will give 2K bonus chips for all snacks, foods, and beverages. No limit up til START of the break. And, it will be on honor system. No cheaters, please.
Change seven: Registration starts at 7:00 PM and ends at 7:45 PM. The entrant registers on time will get 5K bonus. Late entrant loses 5K bonus and one FULL blind level. For example, if you come in at 7:50 PM, you will not be registered until after 100/200 blind level ends. This will allow DPL to seat everyone before 8:00 PM and blind clock starts promptly. Additionally, there will be a short 5 minutes break between 100/200 blind level and 200/400 blind level to allow the DPL committee to get up and leave their seat to register anyone coming in late between 7:46 PM and 8:20 PM. There will be next break, which is 5 mins long, after 200/400 blind level and before 300/600 blind level to register anyone coming in after 8:20 PM or before 8:50 PM. Final break, which is also 5 mins long, after 300/600 blind level to register anyone coming in after 8:50 PM or before 9:10 PM. No entry after 9:10 PM. All late registration will start with same stack at 17K. These short breaks are for the committee to register late entrants, not for anyone to get up and leave the table — the blind clock will resume automatically.
Change eight: There will be no minimum number of attendances to qualify. I’m utilizing the KISS method, let the points speak for itself.
